Pastor Ritchie Miller and his family began to pray about starting a new church in the spring of 2001. At the time, Ritchie worked as a full-time speaker traveling to churches and conferences around the world. Soon, it became clear that it was God's will for the Miller family to take this giant step of faith. At the time of this decision, there was no money, no members, and no prospects for starting the church; however, they followed the vision and God began to provide the resources and the people. After meeting for six weeks with eighteen eager adults, Avalon launched on September 9, 2001, just two days before the terrorist attacks of September 11th. In the first two years our church met in four different locations. Then in 2003 God miraculously provided a building and the church began to grow rapidly. After two years in that location, our fifth, we needed to move to a larger facility, and God once again provided. We moved to a larger venue...the place where we currently meet. Over 5000 people are now a part of the Avalon community and we will soon be breaking ground on a new and more spacious facility on GA Highway 20, just 2 miles west of us.
