Hi, my name is Ritchie and thank you for visiting with me. I am a follower of Christ, a husband, a father, a pastor, and an author. The purpose of my blog is simply to inspire you and to help you grow. I write mostly about the things I am learning about life, love, and leadership. Hopefully you will learn a little, laugh a little, and see more beauty in God’s breath-taking creation as you join me for a few steps on my journey.
I have had the incredible privilege of serving in ministry alongside my wife, Kim, since 1986. She has held on for this remarkable ride and has never once considered bailing on me. I think that may qualify for a medal of some kind. We have three children that we like about 88% of the time. Just kidding, they are amazing and bring us more joy than we ever thought possible. We love you Brittney, Brandon, and Brooke.
I have been a youth pastor, a Christian college instructor, a full-time speaker, and a senior pastor. In 2001 I added church planter to that list. The greatest thrill of my ministry has been starting and pastoring Avalon Church. Because of the awesome people of Avalon I am able to spend some time helping church planters, pastors, churches, and missions organizations around the world.
If you are still reading this you probably don’t have much to do or you are a stalker of some kind. I was born in North Carolina. By the grace of God I am a North Carolina Tar Heel fan. I hold degrees from Trinity Baptist College and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I live in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. My favorite sport is basketball, although I do like other manly sports like football, baseball, and rugby. I work out even though I don’t like it very much. If you want to know anything else you will have to ask Kim. She will tell you the truth.
