God has called Avalon Church to make a difference around the world. We fulfill God’s command to take the Good News around the world through our efforts in global missions. Here are a couple of ways your giving makes a difference.
Children’s Resiliency Project – South Africa
Dr. Bob and Joanna Graham took a leap of faith 10 years ago and moved to South Africa to invest their lives rescuing AIDS orphans. They felt called by God for this huge task. They quit their jobs and a comfortable lifestyle in Jacksonville, Florida and began raising funds to build Indawo Yethemba, which means “place of hope” in Zulu. Today, Children’s Resiliency Project (Indawo Yethemba) is located in Ashburton, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on a former exotic bird farm. To date, they have over a dozen beautiful buildings on the property. These structures are used as homes for the children and their caretakers, housing for ministry employees, an abandoned baby ministry, and housing for guests. Bob and Joanna have witnessed incredible change in the lives of these children and have seen those who are of age receive Christ and get baptized.
Avalon Church was instrumental in helping give birth to their dream. We helped purchase the property, built a home, and sent missions teams from our church. Justin and Megan McIntyre operated the children’s village for nine months while Bob and Joanna spent time in the US on ministry business. We are sending a team from Avalon next month for ten days. Please pray for our team. Most of all pray for the ministry there. You can stay connected to them through Facebook and their website.
Team Cumbaya – Ecuador, South America
Keith and Anita Brock moved to Cumbaya, Ecuador this past spring and began laying the foundation for starting churches throughout Ecuador. They plan eventually to start churches in the surrounding countries as well. They are veteran missionaries having served in other countries for many years. Their four children are vitally involved in the ministry as well.
They are off to a great start! Keith now pastors a growing church and their plans include starting a second service and starting another campus in the next year. Here is a recent post from their Facebook page:
We had a very busy and fruitful weekend. We had a Bible study with 10 people Friday night. Saturday we had twenty teens over for a youth activity and Sunday morning our normal church service and Sunday evening a marriage Bible study with two couples. Tonight we had another Bible study and one planned for in the morning. Please pray for each of these endeavors and also for our visas.
Avalon Church partnered with two other churches to launch this ministry. They are a part of us! Our plans include sending teams of people to assist in their ministry, continued financial support, and major involvement with their ministry. Talks are under way to establish them as our first international campus!
I want to thank you for faithfully giving and praying. Your giving and generosity makes it possible for us to reach other parts of the world with the gospel. Your prayers for these ministries make a difference!
