Full disclosure. I am bent toward action. My motto is, “Ready, aim, fire,” not, “Ready, aim, aim, aim, and aim some more.” It is true that we must plan well; however, many seem to get “analysis paralysis.” You can wait so long for perfect conditions that you never get anything done. The key to getting more things done is to act now! We like perfect leaders, perfect churches, perfect spouses, perfect children, perfect schools, perfect jobs, and perfect conditions. The irony is that even if those things existed, once we got involved, they would no longer be perfect! The bias should be toward action.
Ecclesiastes 11:4 says, “If you wait until the wind and the weather are just right, you will never sow anything and never harvest anything.”
In other words, if you wait for perfect conditions you will never get anything done! Quit waiting for a perfect job, church, spouse, kid, or school and focus on making yourself better. Stop waiting to read the book, get the degree, lose the weight, exercise, start the business, do the project, paint the painting, read the Bible, or change your life. Plan as well as you can. Prepare the best you can. Then pull the trigger. There will never be a better time than now.
